The heart of Lake Cumberland

Lake Cumberland Sunset

After a day of skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, or just soaking in the sun, nothing could be more relaxing than watching the sunset on Lake Cumberland.  Few places on earth are as beautiful!  When visiting Wayne County and looking for something to do off the water, be sure to head in to Monticello on Saturday mornings to visit the new Farmers’ Market Pavilion in Historic Downtown.  The market is open every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

While you’re in town, don’t miss your chance to stop by the Wayne County Historical Museum to learn all about the history of Wayne County and the Lake Cumberland area.  The Monticello/Wayne County Memorial Park is also a great place to spend the day.  The park offers over 86 acres of tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, volleyball, miniature golf, walking trails, and many shelter houses that are perfect for a picnic.

If you’re in town on the 3rd Thursday of the month, make a trip downtown for the free concert series.  The music gets underway every 3rd Thursday at 8:00 p.m.  Also, no trip to the Lake Cumberland area is complete without visiting historic Mill Springs Mill and Park.  The park is operated by the Corps of Engineers and has a gift shop for those souvenirs you can’t find anywhere else.  We hope you enjoy your time in Wayne County and look forward to seeing you here!
