Lake Cumberland is a great place to enjoy the outdoors and lots of beautiful scenery. Sunsets on the lake are the perfect way to end a great day relaxing on the water.
When you need a break from the water, be sure to head in to Monticello every Saturday morning for the Farmer’s Market or visit Memorial Park. The park has 86 acres of tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, volleyball courts, playgrounds for the kids and plenty of shelter houses for a great family picnic.
Downtown Monticello is also home to the Wayne County Museum with many exhibits about Wayne County and Lake Cumberland. It is a must see for anyone interested in the history of the area. Also, a visit to Lake Cumberland is not complete without visiting historic Mill Springs Mill and park. The park is operated by the Corps of Engineers and is a great place to spend a day off the water.

- Lake Cumberland Raft Up
The 2nd Annual Lake Cumberland Raft Up is set for August 13th! The event will be held in the same location as last year (near Conley Bottom Resort and Shinbone) but this year the event will be free for everyone. The band Caught Red Handed will once again be playing on the floating stage beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST and will conclude around 5:00 p.m.
Last year 1,651 boats registered and were a part of the Raft Up to help set the World Record. Because Lake Cumberland already holds the world record, there will be no official count and no registration fees this year. Everyone is welcome to join the event at any time during the day.
Be sure to be part of another great day and a one of a kind event on the water in beautiful Wayne County. Collectible 2011 Raft Up T-shirts will be available at marinas on the lake and at Visitor’s Centers in surrounding counties. The shirts are only $15 so pick one up for every member of your family.
