The heart of Lake Cumberland

Memorial Day Weekend is Almost Here

Mill Springs in the Summer

Vacation season on Lake Cumberland officially starts this weekend and there is always plenty to do.  If you like boating, camping, fishing, hiking, or just strolling through beautiful parks learning about the area’s history, Wayne County is the place to be.  Rent a boat from one of our two world class marinas, charter a private fishing trip with one of our great local guides, enjoy an afternoon in the 86 acre Monticello/Wayne County Memorial Park, visit the downtown Farmer’s Market and Wayne County Museum, or check out all the history and natural beauty at Mill Springs Park.  Whatever you decide, you and your family are sure to have a great time.

Don’t forget the 18th Annual Monticello Woman’s Club Cornbread Festival at Mill Springs Park this Saturday.  Arts and Crafts vendors will be on site for the event.  The meal gets started at 11:00 a.m.  and finishes at 1:00 p.m but the fun lasts all day.  After eating and browsing the Gift Shop, take a trip back in time and watch the Mill in operation like it was many years ago.  Tours of the Mill will be available and you can even purchase cornmeal that was ground in the Mill.
