The weather is looking great for the first major holiday of the year. Be sure to visit the Lake Cumberland area and enjoy your time both on and off the water. We have a lot of great events and places to entertain you all weekend long.
The annual Cornbread Festival will be held at historic Mill Springs Park on Saturday May 29th. Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. There will be cornbread hoecakes, pinto beans, relishes, homemade desserts, and drinks. The cost for adults is $5 and $4 for children. There will be arts and crafts exhibits and the mill will be open for tours along with a mill grinding exhibition at 2 p.m. The gift shop will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 5 p.m.
There will also be a Memorial Day service at Elk Spring Cemetery, in Monticello, Monday at 10:00 a.m. for anyone that wants to attend.
The 2nd Annual Lake Cumberland Grand Prix is slated for June 4-6 at the Waitsboro Recreation Area on Lake Cumberland. The event offers the best in offshore super series powerboat racing. The Center in Somerset. just off Hwy 27, will serve as Racer’s Village and host the pre-race party on Friday night.
